Permanent Cosmetics – Pre and Post Procedure Tips

Permanent Cosmetics are harsh on skin, they need time to heal and settle into natural colors. Don’t expect you’ll look gorgeous immediately after the appointment with your dermatologist, and can head out for shopping, looking beautiful all the time. No! You won’t be able to go out for at least a week after your permanent cosmetics procedure, as you will look like a clown with painted colors and a swollen face!

Make sure to have a pre-procedure shopping trip and buy all the grocery items including, ointments, and straws, napkins for blotting, Q-tips, OTC pain reliever, prescriptions, a good book or movies to keep you entertained for a week.

Make up your mind to be at home until your permanent cosmetics are fully healed, as environmental factors like wind, dust, sun, light can make problems in your healing process. Let’s explore in detail the precautions that you need to take prior and after your permanent cosmetics procedure.

Permanent Cosmetics – Eyeliner

•    Never wear contact lenses during and after your procedure for 24 hours.

•    Make sure you have sunglasses, to wear even at home. Your eyes will become extremely sensitive to light.

•    Do not dye or perm your lashes 2 days before your procedure.

•     If you previously have had any type of eye surgery, talk to your cosmetologist about it, so that he may take the necessary precautions.

Permanent Cosmetics – Eyebrows

•    Do not tweeze, wax or dye your eyebrows a week before your appointment for permanent makeup eyebrows.

•    Electrolysis should not be done a week before the procedure.

Permanent Cosmetics – Lips

•    Lips are usually the most painful, when it comes to having permanent cosmetics on them. You will get swollen or sore lips after the procedure

•    You will be needing lots of pain killers to minimize the pain that you will feel after the procedure.

•    Make sure to start taking antiviral prescriptions 2 to 3 days before permanent lips procedure for a 7 to 10 days course.

•    If you have had any type of lip surgery, consult your physician for that and ask how long you should wait before having a permanent cosmetics procedure on your lips.

•    Lips are very prone to infection after permanent cosmetics procedure so make sure you take anti bacterial antibiotics until your lips are fully healed.

Wait until you are completely healed and refreshed to head out with confidence and a naturally glowing beauty acquired with right precautions and care after permanent cosmetics procedure.
